JACK-UP BARGE MASTER

JACK-UP BARGE MASTER

  • Job Title: Jack-Up Barge Master
  • Reports to: Marine Manager
  • Location of post: Site Based
  • Department: Red7Marine
  • Duration: Permanent with Probationary Period
  • Pay Band: Hourly
  • Security or legal checks required for this role: Eligible to live & work in the UK

Purpose of Job

Jack-Up Bargemaster ensuring that the barge is operated with the highest level of professionalism and safety. Operating the company's fleet of jack-up barges up to 500t deck capacity.

Main Responsibilities

  • Actively assist in the mobilisation/demobilisation of Jack-up barge. Responsible for audit of barge equipment
  • Responsible for on-site client liaison and upholding R7M procedures; acting as ambassador for R7M
  • Liaison with towing vessels
  • Preparation for Jack-up barge move(s) and sea-fastening of all deck equipment
  • Responsible for and the management of all Jack-up barge operations
  • Perform maintenance activities in line with level of competence
  • Responsible for the safety of all barge personnel
  • Act as a Mentor for company trainee Jack-up Bargemaster
  • Responsible for ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with Method Statement / Risk Assessment
  • Ensure that all personnel comply with R7M and site rules, including ensuring that personnel wear PPE at all times
  • Responsible for all plant to ensure that it is operated safely and in accordance within signed RAMS
  • Responsible for conducting and maintaining records of daily activities, inspections, tool box talks, daily briefings and site movement reports, all of which must be sent the Marine Manager/Marine Director daily
  • Operate plant and equipment in accordance with relevant training certificates and competence
  • Ensure that personnel operating plant & equipment on site are competent and authorised

Responsibilities – Specific to Health & Safety

  • Read and understand the Company Health and Safety Policy and ensure that it is brought to the notice of operatives under their control. Carry out all work in accordance with its requirements
  • Know the Construction/MCA Regulations applicable to the work on which your operatives are engaged and insist that the Regulations are observed
  • Take appropriate action when any unsafe acts are observed or reported to you. Likewise, take action as deemed necessary following any report made to you concerning unsafe or damaged plant or equipment etc.
  • Report all accidents and incidents
  • Maintain an appropriate logbook of experience as necessary

Responsibilities – Specific to Environmental Protection

  • Complying with the Environmental Protection Policy
  • Reporting any environmental issues, concerns and suggesting improvements
  • Compliance with waste management & recycling arrangements

Other Duties

  • Perform additional/further general duties that are within your level of capability and competence to meet the needs of the business requirements.

TRAINEE JACK-UP BARGE MASTER

TRAINEE JACK-UP BARGE MASTER

  • Job Title: Trainee Jack-Up Barge Master
  • Reports to: Marine Manager
  • Location of post: Site Based/Ipswich Yard
  • Department: Red7Marine
  • Duration: Permanent with Probationary Period
  • Pay Band: Salary
  • Security or legal checks required for this role: Eligible to live & work in the UK

Purpose of Job

To assist the Barge Master in the operation of the company fleet of jack-up barges to the highest level of safety. Developing through on site experience and R7M internal assessments, allowing the Trainee Jack Up Barge Master to progress to the next level of Jacking Engineer.

Main Responsibilities

  • Actively assist in the mobilisation/demobilisation of Jack Up Barge;
  • Actively assist in marine operations on site: barge movements, afloat, crew transfers;
  • Jacking operations on site;
  • Perform maintenance activities in line with level of competence;
  • Responsible for their own health & safety;
  • Under Bargemaster guidance, undertake barge Safety Inductions, Daily Briefings & Tool Box Talks;
  • Assist the Bargemaster in the completion of Barge Daily Diary & Site Movement Sheets
  • Under the guidance of the Bargemaster, monitor tidal ranges;
  • Under the guidance of the Bargemaster, monitor weather patterns.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

This will be with one of the Directors. This will be more extensive with the emphasis being on KPIs, Measurables of the role, what you will do and your requirements. We will go through what we expect, the package should we offer one and cover off any questions you may have.
